Bandsmen Raising Brass

Picture
On the 12th & 13th June 2010, a father and son team of Coleshill Town Band members will be hiking across Dartmoor to raise funds for the Band and Help For Heroes, splitting the money raised on a 50/50 basis. Simon Toon (Percussionist and ex Royal Navy) and Brandon Toon (Euphonium and potential Royal Marine) will be setting off on a section of the Abbots Way that runs from Buckfast Abbey to Princetown (Dartmoor Prison) right in the centre of Dartmoor. As if that isnt enough they will be camping close to the prison and hiking back the following day.  That’s a total distance of approximately 28 miles over 2 days across rugged moorland terrain carrying everything they need with them - tents, food, clothing, sleeping bags and all necessary equipment.  The estimation is that they are likely to be carrying about 40 lbs of kit each. Please support us if you can. If you would like to sponsor Simon and Brandon they will be in attendance at the theme concert on 24th April with sponsor forms available.  Alternatively you can email Simon at s.toon@st-it.co.uk You can follow their training at their Facebook page for the adventure at The Abbots Way 2010
